Review
Written by Kathy Reichs, famous for her adult novels, Virals is a spin off on her Temperance Brennan books. Reichs’ young adult novel uses much of her knowledge as a forensic anthropologist to create the novel. Virals emphasizes tweens to take responsibility over their actions and to not be afraid of standing up for what they believe. In this sense, Reichs’ work is very much in line with tween development in becoming adept with abstract reasoning and a greater emphasis on social and political participation. The novel itself is fast-paced and thought provoking, crossing genres such as science fiction and mystery. Overall an interesting read, Virals is a great tween read.
